Password reset
Set a new password for any local user without a support ticket.
How it is done
Two mechanisms, chosen automatically:
| Method | Used when | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| guest-agent | The VPS is running and its QEMU guest agent answers | The hypervisor asks the agent inside the guest to set the password. No network access to the guest is needed. |
| management-ssh | A dedicated server, or a VPS whose agent is not reachable | The hosting engine connects over its management channel and runs the system password tool. The password is passed on stdin, never on a command line. |
- DevSewa generates the password (22 characters, mixed classes). You cannot choose one; that keeps weak passwords and shell-quoting problems out of the path.
- It is returned once, in the response to your click. It is not stored, not logged and not e-mailed. Copy it, sign in and change it.
- If the server is stopped, the reset is refused with
guest_agent_unavailable; power it on or use the console.
